Round 2 with Shonna

This was a momentous day. . . we are starting another Take Flight Program with Shonna Skarda, Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT). It is a 2 year program for one hour Monday through Thursday from 4:15-5:15. It costs $675 a month and is a huge commitment on everyone's part. Thankfully John really likes Shonna and has been working a little bit with her since the summer. We had such amazing results with Alivia and I pray that this is the best way to proceed with John as well. The hardest days are the ones where he has to go right after school on Monday and Wednesday. He already has been in school from 8:30-3:45 so it just brutal to have to go one more place and sit for another hour and think about academics again. I know he wants desperately to just RUN and PLAY outdoors. Thankfully this only happens half the time. On Tuesday and Thursday he has had plenty of time to run around and decompress after our tough homeschool morning that lasts from about 7:30-noonish.

This sweet boy of mine has such a spirit of adventure and loves physical labor. He loves to sweat, get dirty and be outdoors. So school is definitely not something he will naturally ever gravitate towards. He reminds me so much of Peyton. He even mentioned he wanted to be a Navy SEAL the other night. AHHHHH!!!!

He still continues to wear the same, exact outfit every day. He wears extra small Carter's cotton black pants, extra small underwear, a compression undershirt and a camo swim shirt with crocs. We have chosen to simply overlook this for now. His sweet occupational therapist recommended that we see someone to discuss possible anxiety as a link but we have chosen to put all our energy towards dyslexia therapy for now. Thankfully he will wear his school uniform, but it has to be a certain type of short, with his belt VERY tight, croc shoes, and a very small shirt with an undershirt underneath. He likes everything to feel really tight.
